Most assignments will require vocabulary from the book, including part of speech and the definition. Please strive for challenging words. If you are reading a book that has NO words you aren't certain of, you need to be reading more difficult books. A great resource is the media center site - Destiney. You can look for tougher books by lexile. If you need help, ask!
SSR assignments also include list of reading questions, or questions you have while reading the book. Try to use higher level thinking questions - not simply questions that can be answered in one or two words. REALLY THINK!!! Dig in and investigate characters, plot, motivations, etc. Also, include answers when you have them. Often times, an author will purposely leave unanswered questions. When this happens, predict what the answer would be IF the author would have provided it. To get you started, I have provided a list of questions for you. Be creative and unlimited in your questions - show me what you are thinking about your book.

SSR Creative project - this assignment is to show what you read in an artistic way. Please note that this option is not ALWAYS available. Only do a book project IF I have assigned and okayed it. Please be a responsible citizen and only submit YOUR ORIGINAL WORK. If you are using technology, please remember to give credit to any 'borrowed' material - even images. I do try to collaborate with other teachers on assignments; however, this is not one of them. Please do not turn in a project you made for another class. It's cheating even if it's your work. I like this assignment - please do not ruin it for others by not following the guidelines. The project assignment instruction page is linked below. If you have another idea for a project, just let me know! ENJOY!!
