Choose a character from your SSR book to whom you best relate. Give details and support from book how you connect with your character. Also, think about the plot and how a different action/choice/decision from your character would have altered the story.
What would you have done differently if you were the character? How would that have changed the outcome of the story? Respond to at least 1 other student's post, more for extra credit (up to 3 total). Copy and paste your post and your responses on Classroom when you are finished. Your blog should give a short retell over what you have been reading and use what you’ve read to make connections either to something personal to yourself; or to something else you’ve read or seen; or to ask questions; or to make a prediction/draw conclusions over what you have read.
You must also THOUGHTFULLY and appropriately respond to another blog post. Your response should be insightful and relevant to your peer's post, and promote conversation. See Mrs. Costello and I's examples. Samples/examples Mrs. Costello posted: I love The Dinner because it's a story told by an entirely untrustworthy narrator. At first you think he's a good guy, but as the story goes on you realize he's pretty awful and that he's protect an even worse son. (His boy has done a horrible thing, and he's keeping it hidden.) Mrs. Kindig commented: Do you think you could have 'loved' the book with a less shifty narrator? What other elements did you like about it? Mrs. Costello in response to Mrs. Kindig's comment: I don't think I would have loved it as much. The book has made me constantly reevaluate what I think the truth of the situation is. That's been interesting and has made me want to keep reading to find out. Right now I think the narrator and his son are both completely evil. Could be wrong, though... have to keep reading to find out! Mrs. Kindig's post about her book: Delving into the Human Psyche (Blog title) I am currently reading a book that I do not 'love'. I do not love it because it is a bad story or is poorly written. It is well written, it is just a disturbing topic that is based on true happenings that is hard to digest. I am sad that people make such poor decisions that jeopardize other humans' futures. If people go to all of the trouble to plan a master attack, and part of the plan is to kill themselves, why not just kill themselves and save the lives of the innocent? That sounds harsh; please know that I am not advocating for anyone's life to end, just don't destroy others along with yours. |
